Both the management and the chairman of the school's supervisory board, Till Schreiter, introduced the experienced boarding school teacher to the Salem community. Fass looks back on ten years of experience as headmaster of the Salem sister school Birklehof as well as many years of pedagogical work at boarding schools in Germany. His introductory speech to the Salem community demonstrated his great sense of the Salem spirit, vision and future. The subsequent discussion with Salem pupils revealed an approachable, empathetic educator with a sense for the concerns of children, adolescents, and adults at Salem.
