Generations of Excellence

Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School is the oldest British international school in Southeast Asia. Tanglin is a vibrant co-educational school of 2,800 students representing over 55 nationalities, and provides a unique learning environment for children from Nursery right through to Sixth Form.  As a not-for-profit school, tuition fees are devoted to the provision of an outstanding education.

Unique Curriculum

Tanglin has developed its own curriculum framework from Nursery to Year 9 (3-14), designed to ensure clear progression for students at every stage. Tanglin is in a unique position to offer students a curriculum which encompasses core elements of the British Curriculum enhanced by the latest research in curriculum design from around the world to ensure it is perfectly matched to our context and community.Tanglin-Trust-School-young-childrenTanglin Infant, Junior and Senior schools recently underwent a single inspection process by the British Schools Overseas (BSO) arm of Ofsted and was awarded the highest possible grade of ‘Outstanding’.   Tanglin is the only school in Singapore to undergo this UK government inspection scheme. The BSO report highlighted that ‘the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding across the whole school and contributes to pupils of all ages and abilities making rapid progress and achieving consistently high standards in all subjects.’Tanglin-Trust-School-students-in-classroomTanglin is also the only school in Singapore to offer students the choice to take either A Level or the IBDP programme at Sixth Form. Participation in CCAs

Tanglin believes in providing a holistic education and values the importance of extracurricular activities alongside academic achievement. The co-curriculum programme at Tanglin is a crucial pathway designed to broaden our students’ horizons. The CCA pathway begins at Infant School and is an important aspect of the Early Years programme. Moving onto the Junior and Senior school, the CCA programme for students is extensive. The 2023 school year saw over 500 different clubs and societies on offer, 23 different sports played by nearly 1,000 students, 24 drama performances and 1,226 students involved in residential trips. Participation is high with over 90% of students across the school involved in CCAs.Outdoor Education: Outdoor education at Tanglin is designed to provide transformational experiences and opportunities to develop greater independence and resilience. During the 2022/23 school year, 1226 students were involved in residential trips both in and outside of Singapore including destinations like Malacca, Japan and India. The Duke of Edinburgh programme also saw strong cohorts across Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

New Facilities

Tanglin’s Centenary Building which opened in 2023 is an impressive addition to the school campus, with aspirational facilities designed to benefit the school and wider Tanglin community.  Students of all ages now enjoy the Olympic standard gymnasium and swimming pool, 25-metre climbing wall, as well as a state-of-the-art Music Department. Located over two floors, the new music department is a central music hub for the whole School, where Seniors and Juniors can participate in individual and group lessons, and ensembles and performances can happen. Tanglin recently launched the Centenary Music Scholarship. Open to Senior School students, the scholarship reflects Tanglin’s high academic expectations and demonstrates how inspirational learning spaces lead to aspirational learning opportunities.Tanglin-Trust-School-music

Future-Ready Students

The Centenary Building is also home to The Institute@Tanglin, a unique new learning facility that promotes excellence, provides thought leadership, and encourages discourse to inspire challenge and prepare students to become the next generation of leaders. No other International school in Singapore has an offering of this kind and since its inception, it has worked with teachers, learning bodies, businesses and mentors to help students become more ‘future-ready’.For the third year in a row,  Tanglin was named one of the top 125 private schools globally in the Spear’s School Index by Carfax Education and is one of 15 schools selected from the China and Southeast Asia region. All aspects of the school are considered in the selection process. 2024 (I)GCSEs: Outstanding Results Across All Subjects

A huge congratulations to the 186 Tanglin students who successfully passed their IGCSEs this year, with 91% of grades A*-B equivalent (9-6). These results are particularly impressive when compared to schools in England.2024 results highlights include:
  • 55% of all grades were A* or equivalent (9-8)
  • 77% were A*- A or equivalent (9-7)
  • 99% of grades were A*- C or equivalent (9-4)
It’s remarkable to note that 77% of Tanglin students’ grades were A* to A, compared to just 46.6% in Independent Schools in England.Commenting on their impressive performance Chris Seal, Head of Senior School, warmly congratulated the IGCSE cohort of 2024:“They can be very proud of how they conducted themselves through Upper School, and these results are a testament to their willingness to learn and develop as young people. For the group to have passed 55% of all GCSEs at A* or equivalent, and 91% of all examinations at A*-B are extraordinary achievements and highlight the incredible depth of ability in this year group. These scores also reflect the huge amounts of support the students receive through the combination of excellent teaching, superb pastoral support, and supportive parenting. We look forward to working with this year group as they make their way through the Sixth Form.”

Celebrating Another Year of Exceptional IB Diploma Results

As it approaches its centenary year, Tanglin Trust School is very pleased to announce another year of stand-out International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma results.Tanglin’s 2024 IB cohort achieved a provisional average Diploma score of 38.8 points, 8.5 points above the world average of 30.3.Typically recognised as one of Singapore’s top 3 International schools for IB results, and a top 20 IB school globally, Tanglin once again exceeded expectations with 100% of the 2024 IB cohort successfully achieving the diploma. Highlights include:
  • 1 student achieved a perfect score of 45 points
  • 30% of students scored 42 points or more
  • 65% of the cohort scored an outstanding 38 points or more

Located on Portsdown Road, Tanglin Trust School is approximately 15-minute drive from the city centre. The School is positioned within Singapore’s ‘one-north’ high technology cluster of biomedical sciences, ICT and media industries and amongst the heritage and nature areas of Rochester Park and the Wessex Estate.
