ICS Côte d’Azur: Admissions Guide
The School
ICS Côte d’Azur is a bilingual, co-educational, IB World Primary School serving the international and local community in the Sophia Antipolis region, southwest of Nice. The school offers Early Years and Primary Years education from KG1 (age three) to PY6 (age 11) and is accredited to teach the IB Primary Years Programme, whilst also integrating the national curricula for England and France. After the final year of Primary School (PY6) students leave the school prepared for secondary education in France or abroad.
Enrolment Details
Children typically join the year group corresponding to their age as of 1st January in the year of application. ICS Côte d'Azur has a rolling admissions policy, which means that applications are welcome at any time of year. If a school place is available, a new student can join mid-semester.Children are allocated school places on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, our admissions committee encourages early applications.
ICS Côte d’Azur is currently enrolling for the 2024-2025 school year.
Six-Step Admissions Process
- Families are encouraged to fill out a contact form on our website and our admissions team will get back to you shortly to arrange a phone call or a visit.
- After a date has been chosen, the family can visit in-person or virtually and take a tour of the school facilities. There is normally the opportunity to meet the Head of School for an informal conversation about enrolment, and to see learning in action in the classrooms.
- Families submit the application form, along with a list of administrative documents and the application fees.
- Once the application documents are submitted, the child’s file will be reviewed by the Head of School. Children will then be invited to spend a ‘taster’ morning or afternoon at the school. During this time, the child’s level of French and English will be evaluated informally, to better understand their academic needs. In the event that your family is unable to attend a taster day, an online meeting will be organised.
- The school’s decision whether to accept the applicant is communicated to the family, and the final paperwork and tuition fee payment is completed.
- The admissions team remains in contact with the family during the transition period to answer any questions and offer advice about relocating to the area. Everything is carefully prepared for a smooth on-boarding process, where the child feels happy, supported and part of the ICS community.
EAL and FLE Service
The school takes pride in its commitment to inclusivity and diverse learning needs by offering personalised English as an Additional Language (EAL) and a French as a Foreign Language (FLE) programmes for students aged eight and older. This enables those children who join with beginner’s level French or English to access the curriculum and progress confidently, ultimately building a solid foundation and self-assurance in language acquisition.
SEN Services
ICS Côte d’Azur provides services through our STEP UP Programme for children with mild to moderate special learning needs, with eligibility studied on a case by case basis. The frequency and level of support required is calculated on an individual basis and outlined in an Individual Learning Plan. All levels of support include case management by a member of the Inclusion Team, progress monitoring, communication with parents and outside professionals (when necessary) and a specific number of hours of direct support.
