King’s Group opens the first British school in Frankfurt
In August 2018, King’s College Frankfurt opened its doors, becoming the first English Curriculum School in the city.
About the new school
King’s College Frankfurt is located in the northern residential town of Friedrichsdorf, approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre. The school occupies two four-floor buildings equipped with an array of both indoor and outdoor facilities aimed to ensure that pupils can benefit from every angle that the British system has to offer. Some of these facilities include: an outdoor playground area, a dining room, a sports field, science laboratories, a music room and a library. The school will grow organically: from its opening in August 2018, it initially offered places to children between the ages of 2 (Pre-Nursery) and 10 years old (Year 5). As these pupils get older, they will progress through the school until eventually all year groups will be open, catering up to age 18. Concurrently, the administrative and academic staff will expand: from 10 native British teachers for the first year to approximately 60 when the school reaches full capacity.A British Education in an international setting
Students at King’s College Frankfurt follow the English National Curriculum, with a wide range of subjects available, leading to IGCSE and A Level examinations. This programme of study will allow pupils access to the top universities in the world such as Cambridge, Oxford, Berkeley or Georgetown, in which King’s College schools have, historically, been able to send graduates.Students at King’s College Frankfurt follow exactly the same curriculum as if they were studying at one of the best schools in Great Britain and learn from native British and British trained teachers.Like its sister schools in King’s Group, the school in Frankfurt strives for educational excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. King’s College pupils are encouraged to achieve their academic best both inside and outside of the classroom, they are encouraged to participate in an array of extra-curricular activities and to understand, appreciate and contribute to British values such as “Honesty, Faith and Courage” – which are the key values that feature on the King’s College crest.“The fact that we are the first British Curriculum school in the Rhein Main area makes us not only special, but gives all of us involved a real sense of excitement and privilege, as well as a recognition of the great responsibility we have to build a school like no other. I think one of the most special things about the school is the attitude of those involved in shaping it – there’s a determination and passion to create a unique learning environment,” said Kirsty Sharp, headteacher at King’s College Frankfurt. To find out more about King’s College Frankfurt visit: https://kcfrankfurt.de/This article is from the Relocate Global International Guide to Education & Schools which is packed with expert tips and information for those relocating and the professionals supporting them.
