Haut-Lac has cared for and guided children aged 18 months to 18 years from over 50 nationalities to live, learn and achieve together in a nurturing, truly bilingual environmentsince 1993.
Children can start down the road to bilingualism as early as 18 months through the Haut-Lac nursery’s “1 teacher-1 language” approach. They then continue on a “1 day-1 day” schedule in infant and primary, before finally selecting which subjects to study in English and which to do so in French in secondary.
Alternative English-only (and French-only in Secondary) pathways are also available for students who speak neither language when they arrive or whose families are on short-term contracts in Switzerland.
Infant and primary students follow a modern, interdisciplinary programme based on British, Swiss and French curricula to develop both their academic knowledge and the key soft skills required for success in the 21st century.
As a top 10 European IB World School, Haut-Lac enables secondary students to follow the renowned and rigorous International Baccaulaureate pathway, starting with the IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) and culminating in the IB Diploma (IBDP) or Career-Related(IBCP) programme.
The same goes for high-performing athletes aged 11-16 who want to complete their school education whilst maintaining intense training programmes. As the first school in Switzerland accredited by the World Academy of Sport, Haut-Lac is able to offer flexible IBMYP timetables and extended IBDP and IBCP programmes to help athletes manage their work and sporting commitments.
Students, who wish to obtain a Swiss high school diploma or go on to study at American or Canadian universities, may also follow Haut-Lac’s Swiss option or US High School Diploma programme respectively.
Whatever pathway they choose, all go on to achieve great results enabling them to pursue the studies of their choice at top universities worldwide. Even two rollercoaster pandemic years didn’t stop Haut-Lac’s Class of 2020 and 2021 graduates from finishing with outstanding 100% pass rates.

Extra-curriculars rhyme with academics at Haut-Lac (figuratively speaking of course).
Students discover the benefits of a balanced lifestyle through a curriculum that weaves sports lessons, swimming lessons and ski lessons in and around academic lessons.
And with over 150 after-school clubs on offer, they continue to develop their skills even after the bell goes. The sporty ones do so, for example, by joining one of the many school sports clubs, the creative ones by learning to play an instrument or working on their brushstrokes, and the culturally/eco-minded ones by debating on current affairs at the MUN club or getting their hands dirty in the school garden.
The Haut-Lac school experience is a holistic one. A holistic experience that makes students feel valued and gives them the courage to go after their goals, learning and adapting as they go.
