Bavarian International School
23 July 2024With 34.9 points, the average score of BIS graduates in the IB Diploma (DP) is once again almost five points above the global median (30.32). 18% of the Class of 2024 achieved 40 points (out of 45) or more (40 points is equal to an Abitur grade of 1.3), with one BIS student scoring the top grade of 45. 41% completed the bilingual diploma and the pass rate was 97.6% (80% worldwide). With a total of 100 students, Bavarian International School (BIS) had the largest graduating class in its 33-year history.
85 students started the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP), 12 students entered the IB Career-related Programme (IB CP/Pass rate 91.7%) and three students chose the High School Diploma. BIS students are part of 2.5 million students at approximately 5,500 IB Worlds Schools in 156 countries. Furthermore, BIS is the only international school in Germany offering all four IB Programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP).
Future skills and values“We are extremely proud of our graduating Class of 2024 and wish them all the best on their individual journeys, equipped with future skills, values, open-mindedness and empathy. The IB DP scores make us all the more proud as we are a non-selective school. Unlike state schools, we do not have a required entry grade of 2.33 when transferring to Secondary School,” explains Dr Chrissie Sorenson, Head of School & Executive Board of BIS.
Even though not all graduates have yet decided on their future path - some have opted for gap years or internships - it is already clear that 44 students with IB DP have been offered a place at their first choice of university. 21 BIS students have successfully applied for a scholarship.
Tickets to the best universitiesAccording to the current status, the BIS students will study at universities in around a dozen countries, for example Imperial College London, University of California, Berkeley, Columbia University, University of Toronto, University College London, Duke University, New York University, University of Edinburgh, Technical University Munich, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, University of California, San Diego or King's College London. The courses are as diverse and individual as the Class of 2024 - here are just a few examples: Applied Mechatronic Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Business Management, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Games Technology, Cyber Security, Drama, Design, International Relations, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Mathematics, Media and Communications, Medicine, Microbiology, Psychology, Software Engineering.
